My friend has an a8 3870k CPU and he would like to buy a HD 7790 GPU and then put the APU in crossfire with the GPU. Would that work or would there be some problems, I dont know thats why I'm asking ... Would he need to overclock the CPU perhaps ? He dosent have a big budget so thats why he's going for crossfire ...

Each APU has a list of supported card with which you can go dual-gfx with, if the card is on that list, you can have dual graphics, if its not on that list, then it won't work.

Radeon HD 6670 1GB DDR3 is the best you can do, barely worth the effort.

It would work better with a completely separate card and disregard the integrated GPU. It think it would handle an R7 250 or GF 750... what do rest of you guys say?
