Hello everybody. High ambient temperatures these days so I think it is time to improve the CPU cooling conditions. I have a 3-years old Intel i7 860 with stock heatsink, no overclock. Currently idling at 50° C and under load 85-90° C (playing Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, so the stress is minimal). These numbers are not normal.

I have checked the push-pins and they are inserted correctly and just did a dust-cleaning inside the case. The following picture shows the fan arrangement inside a Coolermaster Elite 430. It is optimal for my case, I guess.

I may attach two pics of the current thermal paste conditions on CPU and heatsink (I know it was a stupid thing to insert back the cooler without applying new thermal paste).

Anyway, I think the problem is the stock Intel heatsink and I consider buying a Coolermaster Hyper TX3 soon. Would you suggest another cooler? Along with which thermal paste?

Thanks.

Solution
The CM Hyper TX3 is a good one.
For the thermal paste, I recommend Arctic Silver 5 (is good for hot CPUs, but requires some use before it starts to cool properly).
