Hi, i had my gtx 660 since 2012. I was wondering if it’s time to upgrade my graphics card because it is lacking in most games that are going to come out. I get around 30fps on watch dogs ultra but sometimes goes to 10 and then starts to lag heavily. So i though I’ll upgrade to probably gtx 780ti. I just thought I’ll ask people what they think. I also want to know purchasing a graphics card. What do i need to check the most like memory clock etc.? I also got a problem I seem to get an fps counter on every application I go. I checked my programs but can’t seem to find anything. I recently installed Rivertuner statistics server which had the fps counter. Then I unstalled it but still it there. Does anyone know how to remove it?
Thanks

watch dogs isnt a great game to work with as it runs like trash even on a 780ti, depending on what resolution and refresh rate youre looking for is wether its worth upgrading, a single 780ti will be great if you want ultra on a 120hz monitor in 1080p, but anything less than that then id be more inclined to recommend the 770, which is a fantastic card for 1080p gaming at 60fps

Personally running a single 1080p monitor I would look into a GTX770 instead. You really would not need more than that and a 780ti would be overkill.

honestly? likely until you stopped playing in 1080p, its a resolution that has become easy to run on all well optimised games, the 780ti is really for those with high refresh rate 1080p monitors and standard 1440p monitors

if you have the money then sure a 780ti would be future proof forever (until we are inside the game :o ) but I would also have to say that a 770 is a very good card but might not last if you want to play on ultra in the future for games like star citizen etc. I personally upgraded to a 290 because it was the best value card and future proof. It all depends on pricing where you are.

As others have stated, Watch Dogs is not well optimized yet. I would not use it as an indicator of performance.

Also, before you pop a high end GPU in your system, make sure your CPU and PSU are up to the task.

It may be worth going with a 770 or R9 270/280 instead and bumping your other components up a notch to make sure you won't have a bottleneck.

it will run perfectly, you just dont need it for 1080p, its honestly just not intended for that resolution outside of 120hz and 144hz, the gtx 770 will serve you a lot better and save you a hell of a lot of money

For how many years. Games require more power these days. So i thought the 780ti will be a benifit for me. Does gpu memory matter aswell?

personally though if youre looking for longevity, youre better off being patient and waiting for dx12 cards to release and upgrading then

the 770 will last comfortably for 2 years, 780ti maybe 3 years, its a difficult thing to predict but even the 760 achieves 60fps ultra in most titles when paired with an i7 currently, so the 770 will last you a good couple of years

I think i should go with 780ti. Just wondering will 750w psu be enough?

easily, the 780ti pulls 250w maximum, so unless youre trying to use two of them, then there should be no issues
