Which SSD is better around 250GB?

Hey,

I've been building a gaming PC for a few months now and one of the last things I have yet to get is an SSD.

It'll be used to boot Win 7 Professional and run a few games for now,and maybe another OS in the future if there's enough space.
I was going to get the 250GB Samsung Evo for £93 but now I have my eyes on an M500 240GB for around £77.

Benchmarks online are usually better for the Evo but I really only care about booting up and being noticeably fast all around, and since I don't know much about SSD's I don't know if these benchmark differences are actually going to have real-world effects, especially at the 240/50GB capacity,If not I would really rather not spend £16 extra for no reason.

It'll be running with an XFX 7950,i3 4130 and H87-HD3 mobo if that's relevant.

Any advice appreciated.

or the mx100.

generally the choice is on of confidence, as performance in the real world is generally similar.

In synthetic benchmarks the 840 evo is faster than the crucial m500....but that is as far as numbers go, they only look good on paper. In real life performance, you will never notice a difference. Sure the 840 evo might be a couple of milliseconds faster than the crucial, but unless you're quicksilver from x-men you wont notice a thing

I don't know much about the M500, but I can speak for the Samsung 840 Evo Pro. I work in a CGI studio and we use these specific SSD's because of their reliability. Some SSD's might have problem with writing/deleting alot of data, but the 840 Evo Pro is rock solid even after alot of data transfer.

The mx100 seems to be 'higher end' than the m500,do you know why it's cheaper?.Thanks,it looks really good.

it's newer than the M500, essentially it's replacement, very recently launched on a new node for the memory chips, smaller hence cheaper. There will be M500 bargains to be had however as stock is dumped.

the mx100 is a replacement for the m500... http://www.tweaktown.com/news/38172/crucial-announces-t... ...if you can get your hands on the mx100, i'd say go for it..

I've got an M500, very reliable like the C300, they make good solid dependable drives, so do samsung, just add faster into the description.

Thanks guys. The MX100 seems to be great then if it's cheaper than both and pretty much equal in terms of real world functionality.I'm going for it.

I could always save up for something super-high end if I ever need it for some reason in the future, but this seems perfect for right now.
