Is it worth upgrading from Vista 32-bit to W7 64-bit? I use my computer mainly for gaming and doing homework, but I'd have to wipe my hard drive (movies, music, games). Would it be better to only upgrade to W7 32 bit?

IF a 32-bit OS came pre-installed on your computer it is likely that is because your computer came with a 32-bit CPU and therefore you will be unable to install a 64-bit OS at all. Make sure you double check your computers compatibility before making any purchases.

Yes the CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo e4500 and 4GB of ram, it supports 64 bit.

Is your machine capable of handling greater than 4gb of ram installed, otherwise you wont see any real benefits from a 64-bit OS regardless.

When is say 4gb i am exclusively talking about system memory, i e dedicated ram like the kind that comes that stick directly into your motherboard. Your Vram or the momery on your gpu is an exception to this 4gb, since it is not handled by your cpu, but exclusively by a dedicated processor that comes onboard every gpu to handle the functions of the video card
