GPU Heat Issue

PC SPECS:

GIGABYTE: GTX 660 OC
AMD fx8350 4.0Ghz
10 GB Ram

Idle Temp At Start 30 C
When Playing 90-100 C
After roughly 15-20 min of playing i get 15 FPS
And my Idle temp stays at 80C
Wont go down

GPU fans are working
And i use MSI Afterburner to check, NOT OVERCLOCKED AT ALL

This fixes when i do a PC restart and happens 20 minutes into being on again

Also, the PC runs good for 20 min, then FPS drops and Heat goes to 80 C and wont budge

More about gpu heat issue
  1. This may seem overly obvious, but its better to say it now than have overlooked it. Make sure if you havent done so recently that you take a can of air and thoroughly spray out the heat sinks and make sure all GPU fans rotate freely

When you're at idle what does afterburner say your GPU usage is at?

28% usage seems awfully high for idling but nothing that should cause 80c temps.

If thats the case you may well need to reseat the graphics cards heat sink or something else rather involved.
  6. not sure why the double post happened.

I restarted PC, Temp is 12-20C at Idle and Usage is 28

And how would i reset the heat sinks? VIDEO PLEASE
  8. Addon, Goes to 56 GPU usage when its at 80
  9. there is no reason it should be at 56% use. are you sure you have no other programs open /didn't try and pirate watchdogs and get a bitcoin miner installed (joking mostly).

The card is only 2 months old, Would i still need to do that
  11. probably not if its new. You can try uninstalling your graphics drivers and reinstalling them. though the hope of that fixing your issue is low

Iv used a few torrents in the past, for the Forest. Idk if thats it, happend a few days after that torrent, If you can send me a thing to help me find and remove those
  13. i was exclusively talking about this incident, its doubtful that other games had it happen also, or it would have been bigger news

  14. Load up task manager and look to see if the game exe is still running after you closed the game. Also there are other things that may still load the gpu without the user taking notice. There are rare instances of malware infecting some machines for Bitcoin mining.
