I've been thinking about doing this for a while. And I finally decided to, I just need to know if my gpu is compatible with my psu and motherboard.

I am planning on an AMD XFX RADEON HD 7870 LE TAHITI
I have a XFX PRO 550W PSU
I have an EGA-EX58-DS4 Mobo

Also, will this cpu bottleneck it,
I7 920

And ram
6GB

yep, that cpu will surely bottleneck a 7870, you need a new cpu, and for that obviously a new motherboard

Hmmm, definitely? What cpu would you suggest?

550w on a good psu like those from xfx usually are, will be enough for a 7870 unless you have something else crazy in your system, and your 920 will not bottleneck it either. You will be fine.

I'm way overdue for an upgrade, GTX 275 AA Edition. Which is basically just some fancy picture of batman on the gpu.

Games like:
Battlefield Hardline
Far cry 3/4
Arkham Knight
GTA V when it releases
Dying light
Witcher 3
And some simple games like rust, dayz etc. The above are the main AAA titles I want to play.
Doesn't have to be max, and I can do any res above 1280x720. Preferably 1920x1080.

the 7870le will be an upgrade...........you will have to probably lower your resolution for FC3...had a little trouble with a better processor but slightly poorer card ( 6950 ).... don't know about 4. ............ buy that card or better. think about platform upgrade after Christmas.......... maybe by then AMD's new stuff will be out and Intel will be playing catch up.......... going to an i5/i7 isn't really worth it now..... even Intel dump bumped cpu's and called them an upgrade recently.

Thank you! I am going to select the other guy as best answer though, as he replied to my question first and answered my question directly. Thanks anyways for the extra info though :)
