So I was on my desktop recently and everything was working fine, today I tried to use the internet and realized I had no connection. I ran the diagnostics and it gave me the error message "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. So I checked the other computers in the house (3) and they all had the same problem except the one with a wifi card, that one could connect through wifi. So I'm thinking its a problem with my modem but I'm not sure. A reply would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hi

what sort of connection to the internet do you have

if the internet comes via telephone wire a combined modem/ router/ switch/ wireless access point is common
if via cable or fibre optic then the modem is usually separate

have you switched the device off then on again ?

this may re set the dhcp server inside which issues the IP address to your PC's

If this does not work occasionally you have to do a factory reset
but this may require re entering the internet connection account details
so do not do this unless you have written instructions on settings for your account
and the default password to login to the router.
If device comes from ISP there is usually a label on the router with some settings & passwords etc
