I've been struggling to find the perfect desktop computer to run The Sims 3 and the upcoming Sims 4. coolcole01 has been more than thoughtful to offer me some help and has recommended that I build the computer, instead of purchasing it. However, I don't trust myself when it comes to that. My biggest problem is the warranty, and if I build it myself I won't have any coverage.
All I need is a legitimate website that sells gaming computers for a reasonable price. My budget will run from $800-1,500 so if anyone knows great websites I'd appreciate your help.
I'm not much of a PC gamer. I simply want to play TS3 and TS4, and also use Sony Vegas to edit videos, audio, etc. You can read my last post HERE to see what we're dealing with.
Thanks.

Each part has an individual warranty of varying amounts of time, so technically you still have a warranty. If you still don't want to build your own, you could go here. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/

I read some of that thread, and I came up with this build, in the event you decide to build your own. It will handle any game you want to play.

I have heard good things about digitalstorm.com, for a pre-built in that range I would go for their Vanquish II Ultimate setup ($1,260)
https://www.digitalstormonline.com/configurator.asp?id=...
I have found it costs about $150-200 more than building yourself but they seem to have a good reputation.

Here's what I've found about the gameplay on the Vanquish II. How does it look like to you?

Yeah, the vanquish ultimate would play Sims at max settings easy. And it should do quite well with your editing. However the graphics card is a bit overkill for just playing the Sims but it should help with GPU acceleration of Sony Vegas. That's great to hear. It takes hours to render videos over one minute on my most recent laptop. If I do purchase the Vanquish Ultimate, do you think I'd have any problems with the graphics card? For years now I've been having trouble with choosing the correct card.

Nope, the gtx 770 is a great card, I have the gtx 760 which is a step down from it and have no problems with it. It is pretty tough to keep track of whats better than the other for GPUs since it is always changing. In terms of GPU tiers the gtx 770 is probably 3rd tier from the top and is also the highest GPU that I recommend to most people who play on a single 1080p screen. It should take care of your needs for a few years without problems.

Plus, their summer sale offers the four year instead of the three, so I better hurry up and make my purchase.
I noticed a problem when I ran TS3 on my last laptop the first time I switched over to it. I transferred my backup files and when I ran the game it crashed. I'm not sure if it was because the game wasn't used to the files and custom content, or if that's when the Integrated/Onboard Video started to have its problems. If I were to transfer my files over to the Vanquish, would the same problems occur?

I am not sure why you had those problems in the first place but there shouldn't be any problems with transferring files over and using the old save. First thing to check when you have weird problems is the graphics drivers IMO, Nvidia makes it pretty easy to update though. I am absolutely positive that I'm going to purchase the Vanquish II, but I need to make sure the Ultimate setup is the best choice. Like I said earlier, I simply want to play TS3 and TS4 and also edit videos on Sony Vegas. If I were to go with the Best setup instead of the Ultimate, would I still have the ability to run the game smoothly?

Yes the best setup would run Skyrim well, the main difference between the 2 being the graphics card and the SSD. The SSD would help a lot with load times but the gtx 760 in the "best" build would run skyrim well. I have the gtx 760 and play skyrim with ENBs and texture mods without problems (not at the highest settings though).
The only problem I have is with tons of mods, my loading screens are a bit long.

Another problem I had with my last laptop was with the Expansion Packs. After I installed most of the EPs the game froze more often and the loading screen/Make a Family Builder took hours to load. My guess this is due to the poor graphics card.
How many years do you think the Vanquish II will run the game without any problems?

Probably around 3-4 years but all you would need to do at that time would probably be just swap out the graphics card for a new one. The i5 processors stay pretty powerful as time goes on but graphics cards typically need a refresh after a a few years due to how quickly everything changes.
Also, I totally forgot that you meant the sims and not TES (the elder scrolls lol) in the last post so that is why I was talking about skyrim. The gtx 760 in the best version should have no problems with The Sims.

On Digitalstorm's website it says that the Vanquish II has a bunch of room for upgrades, so around that time I probably won't have any trouble purchasing a new graphics card. However, would it be at all possible to send the desktop to Digitalstorm so the 'professionals' can take care of installing the new card?
Also, would the graphics card be able to handle TS3 on max settings or should I stick with the defaults? (Your comment made me laugh.) I know that if I have any problems with the setup or transferring my Sim files/folders to the new desktop I'll be sure to leave a note here.

Best solution
The gtx 760 should max out all settings on the Sims 3 and Sims 4 easily (and probably take care of the next one that comes out at max). I am not sure if you could send the PC back to DIgital Storm for an upgrade but replacing the GPU (graphics card) is literally the easiest swap to make on a PC. You would shut down everything, open the case, unplug the old one and pull it out, stick the new one in + plug in and then download drivers. It is easier than putting together Ikea furniture haha.

Sorry for the late reply. First life was all hustle and bustle and then I forgot my password (again). I went through with your advice and purchased the Vanquish II BEST set-up, which was recently delivered. I had no problem transferring my old files onto the new computer because I turned them into .rar files and will be extracting them soon.
The only issue I am concerned about is if I will have any crashes/blackened screens like last time. Now that my graphics card is NVIDIA I'm positive it will max out all of TS3 settings, but am just concerned. Do you think I should start the game on a clean slate rather than playing the old one? As you can tell I am taking precautions.
Also, the coolants are Fluid XP and I hear they are both eco-friendly and safe. As a rookie on gaming desktops I really have no clue what the fluids are used for. Are they airborne or stay dormant in the computer?

It shouldn't matter if you start a new game or use the old save unless the old save file has errors in it. As for the coolant, I was unaware that the Vanquish came with liquid cooling. Typically coolant fluid is used in a custom cooling loop, which you definitely do not need for your setup.
I contacted DigitalStorm and they told me that my system did not come with any coolant. Everything worked out perfectly especially when I play the game because there's no need to worry about any overheating. The only issue I am having is transferring my old Sony Vegas from my laptop to the Vanquish II.
I heard there is software you can download to transfer old programs to a new computer, but I'm not sure which one to trust. Thanks again for all of your help.
