My cpu fan is running at a constant 5000 rpm and im just surfing the web. I am using the stock cpu fan that came with the amd fx 8320 I just built my pc 2 days ago. 5000 rpm doing nothing is really high right? Also my cpu temps are 43-44c, I am kinda new to the whole building a pc thing so any help you have to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
the stock cooler for the 8 core fx cpus are barely good enough for cooling those chips. you temps aren't bad, but i'm sure the noise level is grating. it will be a great investment to plunk down $30 on a hyper evo 212... and replace the stock cooler.

Dammit I figured :( ok well thanks when I get a little extra cash I will def buy one.

you may have turned off Cool And Quite in the Bios. Enter teh Bios and be sure Cool and Quiet is enabled. This controls the CPU frequency and teh fan speed. If this is turned Off the the fan will run at its max RPM's, 5000 RPM +\- 10%, and teh CPU frequency will stay at its max not dropping down to conserve energy while the CPU is in a low use state.

He is correct that the stock coolers are not the greatest but that is not your issue. your Cool and quiet is turned off in the Bios.
