Okay so i bought this prebuilt pc to get me started in the pc world, it's nothing great, i got it for 360.00 usd, everything included.

APU - AMD A4-4000 with a Radeon HD 7480D
4GB DDR 3 1600 MHZ PC-12800 Memory
Logisys CS308RD Red/ Black with Blue LED FAN ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

480W Power Supply

I want a pc that runs current games at what the ps4 does currently. Not exactly sure where to go first, and i DO NOT want a complete new build, i want to upgrade slowly as i am on a budget and probably will only be able to buy parts one at a time and replace that way.

So, what order should i upgrade things in? Thanks in advance for all help.

Also, i am a noob at pc builds, so please speak slowly and clearly :)

I would start by upgrading the processor. That A4-4000 is only a dual core processor running at 3.2GHz. Go to something like an A8-5600K(quad-core). That will upgrade both the cpu, L2 cache, and video in one swoop.

Check out this page on Tom's for a good idea where your processor lies on the scale (higher up the page is better)

Do a find on A8 on that page.

Your memory is fine. Maybe later on it's worth upgrading to 8GB, but that definitely isn't the priority.

I know eventually that it will be a complete new build but i do not have the funds to do it all at once, id like to do it overtime, yet still be able to use the current pc for day to day tasks.

So... I need a starting point, and a gameplan that offers compatability.

Even throwing together a pcpartpicker list, then telling me the order to do things would be sufficient.

Thanks in advance.

(Im pretty new to pc building)

this is my gaming build : http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/C9WcRB

Im not really familiar with Apu exept that it's a combination of a CPU + GPU and replacing it is harder
what i would do is first replace your CPU and GPU to something more decent

(I like the stay with intel instead of AMD becouse most people i know say intel's better also i am more fammiliar working with intel)

after you upgrade your cpu and gpu you probably want to upgrade youre RAM (I would recommend 8)
But offcourse you need to be sure that you have a good enough power supply to power all this
it really all depends on how fast you want to upgrade it to a gaming pc or if you want to keep it a low pc for a while then upgrade it
to a decent gaming pc

Hope this helps ... like i said im very new to all this don't think of my advice as proffesional

Does this cpu take into account the fact i want the pc to run at or above what the ps4 does for gaming?

Also would it run okay with my generic 480 watt power supply?

There are several posts on Toms discussing comparable video cards to what the ps4 uses. Because the processor you have (currently) uses an APU, cpu + gpu, it will make the discussion a little bit tougher.

I guess the question is what games do you want to play? What settings and resolution are you looking for?

Here is a benchmark that Toms did in 2012 on the A8-5600K on skyrim and a couple of other games.

After reading the article again, maybe an A10 APU is a better idea.

You may have to upgrade the cpu first, then later on add a discrete graphics card. Adding a new graphics card will probably require a new power supply though. So I still think the processor is the best place to start.

Battlefield 4, even if it is on low settings. Want 1080p though.

I probably should have added this in earlier, this is my current motherboard i didn't list it above.

I dont think the A10 is compatible with it, although i could be wrong. i usually am lol
