I have an Asus PB278Q which has a native resolution of 2560x1440. Sometimes whenever I set a game to render at 1920x1080, the blacks aren't nearly as deep and colors seem washed out. Games I've tested, Skyrim and Watch_Dogs, are affected but Elder Scrolls Online keeps the same deep colors at both resolutions. Is this some setting I have wrong and can change?

When you don't use the full amount of pixels, then it emulates by using them all sometimes. So this is why the picture looks worse.

Some games make better use of the available pixels than others. eg add brightness.

You can try altering the settings on your monitor.
