What could be wrong Mobo or GPU?

Today I installed a PNY GTX 770 4GB OC, booted normal with out any problems, then did a clean install drivers (prior I had GTS 250), once rebooted and after about 2 or 3 minutes, the drivers start crashing, then randomly started to have some freezings on desktop. I have dual boot (OS X and Win 7) and this was happening on both OS, so then I start to dig on my Bios and if I let the Bios on PCI "Auto", the problem happens, then I tried to put it on PCI 2.0 and is rock solid, on both OS X and Windows, but if I put it on PCI 3.0 (which is the correct one for this video card) the random freezes comes again and drivers start crashing.

So I found on gigabyte site a new bios, I upgraded to the latest version and the problem is still there.

So to recap.

PCI Auto= Crash/Freeze
PCI 2.0= Rock Solid
PCI 3.0=Crash/Freeze

So what could be wrong ? the mobo or the graphics card ?

Full Specs:
Mobo: GA-Z87MX-D3H (Bios F6)
i7-4770K OC @ 4.2
PSU: TX650 V2
Rams are stock Mushkins silverline 2x4gb 1333mhz 9-9-9-24

Thanks.

Thanks, already done that, in fact I let the battery out for like 10 minutes to make sure everything was reset and default settings were loaded but as soon as I login to Windows the problem appear again, because the optimized default setting for PCI is "Auto" So if I need to do something (uninstall drivers) I need to put the bios on PCI 2.0. I uninstalled the windows driver on safe mode with display driver uninstaller, so also the registry keys where removed.

PS. I'm starting to believe that this motherboard is faulty by factory, because also searching I found that a lot of people have trouble using the 4 memory banks.

Pl don't jump to conclusion as memory banks are different for PCIe slots.

Try DDU to un-install the installed drivers completely because even these drivers are removed using standard uninstall method they leave behind many useless files that need to be removed as well.

That's what I used (Display Driver Uninstaller "DDU"), exactly as the software ask me to do it, reboot on Safe mode so it can completely delete everything.

Yeah, maybe is a bit quicky to jump to that conclusion, however I think what i'm facing is a hardware problem, because on both OS have the same behavior, the GPU Freezing and drivers crashing.

You think the PSU could be not providing enough juice when it's running on PCI 3.0 or its the same power needed for PCI 1,2 or 3 ? Yeah maybe dumb to think about it, because the this is not happening under load, it starts on idle.

Done loaded stock values, and the same problem.

I'm on the bios right now, and i found something interesting. for the PCIe Slot Configuration.

It says. Configure PCIe Slots Configuration according to PCIe generation. Auto = System will detect the appropriate PCIe Gen according to installed graphics card
NotePCIe Gen.3 will offer optimal bandwidth when paired with a compatible Gen.3 graphic card. However Gen2. may be preferable in certain OC Configurations.

Then could be because this card is a bit OC from factory, it need to be on Gen2 on this motherboard ? And everything is working as should be?

This is exactly my card http://www3.pny.com/GTX-770-4096MB-OC-PCIe-P3425C589.aspx which in fact, under load goes to 1136.6 Gpu Core clock.

Normally, PCIe slots work perfectly on Auto. This card is PCIe 3.0 x16 but it will work on PCIe 2.0 in which case bandwidth or the speed may be slower than 3.0 but still it will work on any PCIe 2.0 slot.

On which slot have you installed the card exactly pl?

On the First slot x16 , and I don't have any other PCI devices.
