Intel Pentium 4 Processor 2.80c GHz
120gb 7200rpm ultra ata/100 hd
ATI radeon 9200 64mb video memory
2.0gb ram

I have a Sony Vaio pcv-rs422x that has been around for a while and I just started using it again so I upgraded to 2gb ram that I bought off eBay (21.20). I then tried to reinstall xp on it, deleted the partitions, and after the format I get a message that says the setup cannot access the Cd containing the windows xp installion files. Trying to boot I get..

Ntldr is missing
Press ctlr+alt+del to start

I have tried repairing and making a boot disk from ntldrismissing.com went through all 10 options and nothing. When repairing I get access denied and won't let me sign in to 1.

What should I do? New hard drive?

Maybe you should try the CD in another system to see if it is the problem.

It looks like MS makes XP SP3(does NOT work for media center) available as a download. Have your COA ready. It should be on the bottom on the notebook.

This was even news to me.

Downloaded it and it is just SP3 on a CD, nothing else.

Is it Home or Pro you had on the system?

I think it's home. I used the same Cd before on same desktop for Windows xp and it worked so I think the Cd is good.

Well I guess you can try to boot off the CD and try to install again.

If you happen to have another optical drive to try it may not hurt.
