Need some input on my laptops RAM

Hi,

I bought an Asus V551LB-DB71T notebook off Amazon, a little less than a month ago. I've had some funky things happen to this laptop while playing some games, most of them were able to be fixed by updating drivers, or editing settings. However today while I was playing Ghost Recon(the original) I got a warning messaged that popped-up telling me that my memory was low, and to end some processes to improve performance(I never did notice a drop in performance, and when I checked taskmanger is displayed only 29% of the memory being used). However, I felt that odd, seeing as Ghost Recon is not that demanding of a game, and its a good few years old; so I proceeded to download MemTest86, and run it on the laptop. My initial test made it to about 9% of the second pass, and froze. Zero errors, but completely unresponsive, had to shut down manually. So, at that point I was ready to RMA the laptop, but just for the hell of it I switched to a different USB port(probably should have mentioned I booted memtest86 via flashdrive). I believe on this notebook there are 2 USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0, and I initially did the first test, which froze, using the 2.0 port. As of right now, having switched to the USB 3.0 port, I'am 81% through my 3rd pass(fingers crossed) with no errors. So I have a few questions. Is this just a fluke, and maybe ill make it through this test, to have it freeze another time? Or is RAM that is going bad pretty consistent with producing errors? And finally, did switching USB ports make a difference? I mean it booted fine and everything in the 2.0 slot, so maybe it's just a coincidence it made it farther in the test in 3.0 port? General input would is greatly appreciated.

It may well have been due to the different usb slots. Usb can be flaky. There have been several cpu\chipsets in the past 4 or 5 years that have been problematic. Also, it could be that reseating the ram will clear up the problem.

I completed the test last night after about 6 hours. I made it through 4 passes with 0 errors on all 10 different tests. Would it have been better to have burned memtest to a disc than than use USB? Should I be concerned about my RAMs condition? I'm going to run it a 3rd time while I'm at work to see if it can make it through again.

I would not be concerned about it at this point. Another thing is that the initial problem with ghost recon could have been caused by software. It is very common for programs or drivers to create these kinds of problems.
