Hi,
I have two Dell PowerEdge 2950 serverblades and am trying to put them before the router (a cheap medialink router). The modem i have is a Motorola SB6141. I know that to do this you have to setup a static IP for them so that they don't conflict with each other, but i just can't get it right. i have tryed multiple configurations but none of them seemed to work. can anyone help me?

*also my ISP is COX communications. The reason i want them before the router is for security, don't have to mess with ports, gives them first priority on internet access.

Solution
Your ISP only assigns you one IP address, usually via DHCP (not static). You need a router with NAT to attach more than one device. Usually only business grade accounts get static IP addresses.
