Maybe go with a 1150 socket i5 4670 or even an i7. Then for a motherboard go with an Asus republic of gamers Maximus vii ranger. Very good board mate. Only need 8gb of ddr3 for gamin too. Drop the GPU to a gigabyte gtx 780 OC 3gb or something like that and put a bit more into the CPU. Power supply looks good and everything else is nice. But most of all when building, don't take advice from people like me that have built an awesome rig. Build for yourself and build to what suits you man. I recommend stuff but tht doesn mean go with what I say. I can tell you now though, nvidia and intel. All the way. Can't go wrong!

Yeah well that build easily catches on fire , both 290's use up to 800w and the other parts use about 130w
My build has 1300w to be safe and have enough power if he's gonna crossfire the 290x's in the future , so overall your build isn't much better , you just took mine , put an i5 instead of an i7 , two 290's and a cheaper psu , but once again it'll catch on fire , even if it's a super dooper great company because it won't provide enough wattage

An overclocked system with a pair of 290s in Crossfire will draw around 650-700w tops even in Furmark: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7492/the-geforce-gtx-780-ti-review/15

According to what you said, you would need a 2500w+ power supply to run 4-way 290x's, and you certainly wouldn't be able to run them on a 1600w power supply. But it is certainly possible:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5AVIaeWZ1k
http://www.digitalstormonline.com/unlocked/4-way-quad-crossfire-amd-r9-295x2-benchmarks-at-4k-idnum228/ (295x2 Quadfire uses roughly the same power)

And a pair of 290s is substantially better than a single 290x, and would certainly not start a fire like you're saying. The Windforce cooler is very good, and the 450D has very good airflow.

Either way, spending $2300 and only getting a single GPU is a waste of a lot of money, even in Australia.

When did I say you need a 2500w psu to run 4 290x's ?
Also that list doesn't show any pair of 290's .
I said that a 1300w will be good to be SAFE not that 2500+w is needed to run 4x 290x's , and i was talking about two 290x's , and no , two 290's can go up to 800w when they're at full load , plus an overclocked system it should go up to 930w
I never said that having 4 290x's is impossible either
No , actually it's not a waste of money , because not ALL games support crossfire , and you'll end up with the performances of a 290 on games that don't support crossfire , and actually getting a 290x is better than having two 290's at the moment , why ? because you'll have the possibility to crossfire a 290x LATER when more and more games support crossfireX and sli and games will be better optimized for those two technologies , you'll end up getting even more performance
The single 290 is not even overclocked
And yes it would certainly start a fire , or at least smoking
Why ?
Because the power supply won't provide enough power once again

900w is PLENTY of power for a pair of 290s, you are extremely overestimating. It would certainly NOT start a fire or even start smoking. Maybe with a Raidmax or something, but not a high quality Antec HCG. If 900w isn't enough for 2-way, then you're saying 1800 wouldn't be enough for 4-way? And even if you're worried, then just get the bigger power supply lol My main point here was a pair of 290s are far better than a single 290x for the same price.

The 290 and 290x are the same chip, much like the 270 and 270x, so when overclocked, the 290 can perform similarly if you get a decent enough chip. And almost all new games support Crossfire, and the 290/290x have hardware fixes for frame time variances, so you can't really count that as an issue anymore.

900w is enough power for a non overclocked INTEL system with two 290's but 900w isn't plenty of power on an overclocked system with 2 290's --'
A 1800w doesn't even exist but sure would be enough to power it all up , a 1500w one should do the job for 4 290's , it's even more than needed , and let me point out some stuff
The case can't even support 4 290's because it only has 7 expansion slots
Second of all the motherboard does not support 4 way crossfire , so that's out of the question too
An 290 overclocked would get the same performance as a 290x at stock , but an overclocked 290 won't reach the same performance as a overclocked 290x
EVEN A 80+ PLATINUM 900w ( not even sure if a 80+ platinum 900w psu exists ) won't do the job because it won't provide enough wattage , you're confounding companies with wattage .
Get my point ?

I wasn't saying to do 4 290s, I was saying that with your math, 4 290s would need at least 1800w to even run to make a point. Obviously I wasn't suggesting 4 way Crossfire, I am suggesting 2-way, hence my build.

How is 1500w enough for 4 and 900w isn't enough for 2? Your math makes no sense. You say each 290 draws 400w, which is why you're saying 900w isn't enough. Taking your 400w each number, 4-way 290s ALONE would draw 1600w, plus the rest of the system.

And what in the world does Platinum have to do with wattage? I'm not confusing companies with wattage, whatever that means. You're not making any sense here. You are completely misunderstanding almost everything I'm saying, and then throwing out untrue and irrelevant information.
