What Kind of Expansion Card Can I Get To Make My MB Accept My 840 Evo with AHCI

First of all, that you all for helping in advance. I built my rig 5-6 years ago. I have an EVGA nForce 750i SLI Motherboard with a Intel QX6850. I am avoiding upgrading the core as I am low on cash right now. I have always had a crappy HDD in it. A few months ago I put aside a little cash to buy a 120gb Samsung 840 EVO SSD and picked one up on sale on NewEgg. Like a moron, I didn't realize my MB does not have AHCI. It's hooked up now and reading as a SCSI drive. Works fine.

What I need advice on is what expansion card can/should I buy to gain the AHCI ability for my SSD.

Also, in the meantime, what can I do about not being able to use TRIM? I'm not having any issues yet, but would like to know for my own edification.

Thanks!

Most SATA III 6Gb PCIe expansion card will give you at least 2 SATA connection using AHCI features. I don't know much about the compatibility of these expansion cards, but a PCIe slot is a PCIe slot... Since you don't plan on using RAID settings, the expansion cards at 30 bucks will do the job for both your HDD and SSD.

Also, it seams the the Trim command is linked with AHCI features. If your mobo don't have AHCI, you won't be able to use TRIM. (But honestly, 840 EVO are awesome SSD's that don't suffer from intense writing/deleting)
