Which one Will be better for video editing, gaming, and average stuff (youtube, word, PowerPoint, etc.)?
I'll be stuck to the cpu family that I pick out because of the mobo, so I could use some advice. Another big difference is the cost! A FX 8320 with a gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 will cost me only $200 together at microcenter but the i5 would be $190 and the mobo around $100 for a z87/z97 mobo. Also if I get the amd mobo I can upgrade to their newest 9000 series cpu sometime later if I want. So would the extra $100 be worth it to get the i5 over the fx 8320? Or would I not see a noticeable difference? I use a old core two duo in a laptop and a very old (2003) pentium in a desktop so I won't be used to having a snappy computer so I think I'll be fine with the probably slower 8320 but can you guys give me your opinions? All help is very much appreciated also I don't have a lot of funds for this build.

Solution
A computer built with the FX8320 and the money you save on the processor spent on a better graphics card will usually game better . Definitely better in newer games .

Its easy to OC an 8320 to 8350 speeds

even using the stock cooler

Its also possible to over clock the intel if you use the right motherboard

Expect the OCed FX processor to encode faster than the i5
Game the same with the same graphics card
And be indistinguishably different for all other usage

I5 i would say, just more reliable in my opinion, and more motherboards are made for Intel CPU's. It does depend on your pricing, if you are on a really really low budget like 500 or somthing like that the fx is certainly the best choise but for most rigs i would choose the best, the i5.

Games are more GPU bound.

If getting FX 8320 means saving money to invest on better Graphics Card, then YES, go for FX 8320

In video editing, etc there won't be much difference between FX 8320 & i5 4670k.

The real value of FX 8320 lies in overclocking, so choose a good motherboard( like Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3, the one you already listed) & CPU cooler.

before anyone starts the pointless fanboy-ism war...let me say something, take an intel and amd powered pc and lay them side by side, stick a bunch of amd and intel badge on both of the pc...lastly ask your girlfriend(if you have one) to play facebook games or watch youtube, surf the internet and lastly play horror game with her. See if she can tell which pc is which. :) or better yet persuade her to do benchmark with you (note: while you are benchmarking, friends of your girlfriend must be present, if you plan on marrying her, insist on inviting her parents to sit around and watch. It is reported to boost your image in front of them.):p

Lastly I would like to apologize for my use of language and words...
