Hi all

Quick question, Im looking for a near-silent to silent case and ive looked at these two (fractal design r4and corsair 500r).
I have heard the fractal is silent while with good case fans the 500r is also silent.
If I do go with the 500r Ill change the fans to cooler master or noctua fans.
The rest of my components are near silent except for the gpu (OC gigabyte 780 windforce) which is still quiet. If there are better choices than these two cases please recommend them.
I really need it to run quiet but would also like good cooling even if i have 10 fans (as with the 500r).
Both of these are mid towers but if you think it suits me by all means recommend a full sized.

Thanks all who reply.

Near silent with 10 fans! :)

Go for Fractal Design R4 in this case.

For a general criteria look for the case in which noise reducing material for sound dampening is provided.

I have seen people get the 500r to silent with coolermaster/noctua fans and that would be much better as temps would be lower wouldn't they? Even though the r4 has noise dampening the more airflow the slower the fans can spin the less noise.

I completely see where your coming from and at first i thought exactly the same thing but in the long term if i can have better airflow while still being silent it would be better for upgrades in the future, would it not?

Both cases have equal opportunity for further expansion. Who is saying that cooler master fans are not noisy! :)  Their sickle flow and jet flow are noisy. I've an experience with them.

Yes Noctua fans are very good at their job.

I've used five SP-120 fans in Cooler Master CM Storm II Advanced and it was near silent PC for me. Even while entering the room no can tell if the PC is on or off while it was on :)

Now using Corsair Graphite 760T. Another great case. Right now I've a combination of Noctua and Corsair fans and it is not that noisy.

Coming back to your query, seems like you are more into 500r than fractal design :)  500r is also a good case.

There is a trade off between good air flow and silent operation. If you want good air flow but at low noise, options are few.

You can also consider bitfenix specter pro fans for good air flow and low noise.

Thanks Easy lover. I think i might go with the 500r and try my hardest to dampen everything (this is going to be 24/7) ill look into those bitfenix fans. Thanks again.
