Hey guys,
A few months ago I noticed that my monitor was beginning to show noticeable flickering when running games. (Although it is still slightly noticeable when idle)
It's hard to put the effect into words so luckily I managed to find a video online which shows my exact issue. (Albeit a bit more pronounced) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUoK4gfHNIY
I know the first thing I should do is test it with a new monitor or a new gpu, however this is the only monitor I have that is capable of outputting in true 1080p (and the problem doesn't seem to be present in 720p) and I don't have another gpu to test it against. I have ordered some new cables for my monitor but am unconvinced this will alleviate the issue as it seems to be tied more to gpu strain than anything else.

Anyway here are my specs:
PowerColor HD 7850 PCS+ Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
AMD Bulldozer FX-8 Eight Core 8120@8150 Black Edition 3.60Ghz
Aerocool Vs-3 Advance Midi Tower Case - Black
Cooler Master Elite Power 500W Power Supply

It's also worth noting that I've had all the components in this pc for a little over two years now, and the PSU was fairly cheap and may also be the issue.

Cheers,

there is nothing much we can do and the only way to really find the issue is to replace parts, Suggested to go to repair shop and let them pinpoint the issue rather then you wasting money on parts that 'could' be the issue. There isn;t much we can do to help.

Yeah I think you're right, I'll take my gpu down to my local pc store and get them to test it out. Hopefully it'll be the problem and I can get a shiny new gpu! Anyway thanks for the response.

If i could suggest something I would, but these cases often involve trial and error, who knows what or is (even multiple issues) wrong with your setup.
