Hi all, just purchased Acer Aspire ATC-605-UB11 desktop recently. Decided to switch HD to SSD. Bought 120gb PNY SSD, plugged in. Used EaseUS Todo Backup to clone window 8 from hd to ssd. Then unplug original 1 TB hard drive, window booted up but welcome screen had change(no profile picture), signed in but keep preparing window. If I plug back the 1 TB hard drive, it works fine and I can see the ssd with the os on it.

Here is what I want to ask:

1. how can I solve this issue?

or ( if number 1 can't be solved)
2. I want to use the ssd as primary system drive, and the 1 TB hard drive as storage drive. Should I just install a new OS to ssd and format the 1 TB hd? and how?

Thanks for any advises.

It maybe the boot order is not correct, after you disconnect the HDD, boot the PC, go to the BIOS set to the boot order to the SSD (check the manual ) , save and exit. Also in the BIOS storage section, you may need to set the mode to AHCI.
Usually if you have the win8 key on the PC, you are better to do the clean installation. http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2299-clean-install-windows-8-a.html
I know some the PC with win8 don't have the key on the PC, you can use this "Belarc Advisor v8.4" to find the key. http://pcsupport.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=pcsupport&cdn=compute&tm=28&f=00&su=p284.13.342.ip_&tt=65&bt=9&bts=9&zu=http%3A//www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Thanks for the advise, I will try. By the way, how do you set the mode to AHCI? I am not sure if see this in the BIOS? Also, i did set the boot order and found there should be no issue on that.

If I want to install a new OS (win 7), and I want to use the ssd as primary system drive, and the 1 TB hard drive as storage drive. Should I unplug the 1TB Hard drive, then install win 7 to SSD, and then connect the 1TB again? Or there is any thing should I pay attention to it? Thanks.
