Hi, I've just put together a quick video made up of lots of photos. I made sure all the photos are 640x320 and then saved the video using custom settings at exactly the same video res, 8000kbps bit rate (which is probably overkill, right?), 29.97fps frame rate. But the video quality is far, far below that of the original images. Given that quite a lot of them are diagrams, it's really showing up ie jaggy lines, smudged colours etc. I've tried all sorts of different bit rates, resolutions etc, but cannot fix this. Is it just a basic limitation of converting from images to video? Any fixes out there, ideally using Movie Maker for Win7?

Sorry no answer, but I have the same problem, and it is new - as far as I can tell, I am not doing anything differently. I use USB to transfer HD videos to my computer from my camera, then I open them with Movie Maker, and the file looks perfect.

I edit the project, and I export as MP4. About a week ago and prior, it was working fine - what I saw in the project was what the MP4 looked like.

This week, I've tried again and again, and I get the same thing as the OP - smudged colors, jagged lines, squares of color, etc. It's not even like the video resolution is low, it's more like the file was corrupted.

Any thoughts? I do have fan problems on my laptop, so I may end up trying a different computer. But as I said, it was working fine earlier.
