Upgrading my CPU- New Intel i7-4790K anything else?

Im upgrading currently, and for a new processor I am in the 280 and lower range. The new Intel seems to fit my needs, is there anything cheaper with more cores and comes with the fans and a overclock of 4.4 ghz or higher? (looking for 4 ghz no overclock)

Wanted to stick with Intel, but if their is a off brand that is just as good id like to see it (looking for even more cores like a 8 core?)
Already have a graphics card.

It depends on your needs. "K" model Intel CPUs allows you to overclock, however if you are not interested in in OC'ing, then you can save a little money going with a non "k" model CPU.

Getting a Core i7 CPU is great at long as you are using programs that can take advantage of Hyper Threading (HT). However, if you are not using any programs that takes advantage of HT, then there is no real reason to get a Core i7 CPU. You can save money by stepping down to a Core i5 CPU.

If overclocking, just make sure you have a Z97 motherboard and a good cpu cooler and a good quality power supply.
For gaming, most of the time the i5 4690k will be enough.
If doing productivity like Video rendering and Abode CC After Effects, then the i7 is something to consider.

If your usage is gaming, the i5-4690K is about as good as it gets.
Few games can actually use more than 2 fast cores.

The stock cooler is fine for stock operation or a mild overclock.

What graphics card do you have? Even at stock clocks, the 4690K and a z97 based motherboard will run any single graphics card well.

If your main usage is rendering or some other multithreaded app, then look into the FX-8350.

I do use programs with Hyper Threading, just wanted to know if there was a off brand cheaper one, but I amm going to stick with the i7 because I render videos and that I have a old i5 with only 3.0 ghz thanks.
