Hi, I've been having some problems lately. Let me start from the beggining.

2-3 weeks ago I bought an ASUS GTX 760 DCUII OC graphics card and put on my system. 2 hours after I put it on my system, my PSU broke down as apparently it was too weak to support it.

After I got a new PSU, my hard disk failed (i barely had it two years) so Western Digital sent me a new one for free.

And here comes the final issue. I have this 1TB WD hard disk since yesterday, and every time i try to install Windows 8, after a while the system just stops working, then restarts and for some reason says HARD DISK BOOT FAILED ERROR or something, and not even my BIOS can see it in there. I tried to install Windows from scratch and they didnt recognise any hard drives, so I reset my BIOS, plugged everything out and put it back in, used fail-safe and optimised defaults in the BIOS and the system finally recognised it.

As soon as it did, I reinstalled Windows but the same problem occured again, this time though I figured that just unplugging the SATA cable out and putting it back in solves the problem temporarily, which means that I can turn my computer back on for like 10-15 minutes and then it happens again.

Any ideas?

My system specs are:

AMD FX-8120 CPU
GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3 v1.1 MOTHERBOARD
8GB RAM DDR3
650W Corsair PSU

if you need exact models for the PSU, HDD just tell me so I can open my case and look it up.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Hi, so I got another SATA which was used on another computer before (but how much worse can it be than mine right) and my pc seems to be fine since then. However I've noticed that most breakdowns happened during Windows updates which I haven't tried doing since the cable change.

Oh, and thank you for your fast response :)

Scratch that.
I downloaded 'Slim drivers free' and as it says I should update some of my drivers, one of them being 'Standard SATA AHCI Controller', I tried installing it and my pc shut down in the middle of the installation. The pc was okay until I tried installing it. After that, I moved the cable to another port.
