Hey guys,

I have a problem with my recently bought R9 270 dual x 2gb. In every ambient (windows, browsing, watching videos, playing video games) I have a constant screen tearing issue (horizontal). My specs are:

- AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
- Ram 8gb 1333 DDR3
- Dual X R9 270
- Motherboard Gigabyte GA-870A-UD
- PSU Super-Flower SF650P14P 650W
- Case Cooler Master 690 II Advance
- LG 23" D2343P (+ Samsung 40" full hd led in duplicate.)

I was using the most recent catalyst drivers (not the beta cause I have blue screen during the install process), I tried to downgrade the drivers to two versions before (13.9), update the bios, the problem is still there. I can see it since starting windows (it looks like the refresh rate is very low, but it is set to the maximum "1920x1080 60hz"). Same issue trying to the connect the gpu to the TV via hdmi cable (it is even worse).

Any help?

Thanks in advance!

Your are the symptoms of typical driver problems... yes, the driver, if you have windows xp then lack of card drivers looks like exactly what you described. Did you install the proper drivers for you operating system? You must be careful to install not just according to your windows but also according to whether you have 32 or 64 bit OS.

But on the other hand, did you follow plug all the necessary power cables into the card? It could be just hungry...

Forgot about the operating system, it's windows 7 64bit. Of course I carefully checked to download the right version of the drivers, but as said even trying a less recent version, the problem is still there. About the plug, the GPU comes just with a 75W 6-pin plug (that looks correctly connected). Do I have a way to check if it is a power releated issue?

Thank you!

Well every card demands a certain requirement of the 12v rail, you could check whether the PSU's 12v rail can handle the power.

If it really is a driver issue, then simply right click on my computer, select manage, go to devices and check whether there is an exclamation mark next to your graphics card driver.

Sunova... grrrr! The last time I had problems such as these was when I installed a new copy of Windows XP and the drivers weren't installed yet.

One more thing you could do... right click the desktop => screen resolution => advanced settings => monitor tab, then check your refresh rate, it should be frequency that your monitor supports.

It is set to 60hz and it is completely supported by my monitor. I have no clue what to do...

Right... lets try uninstalling the drivers then purging everything with a driver cleaner, when you use the cleaner, run the system in safemode. Then we'll try a completely fresh install of all the drivers.

The next thing you can do is take your card to a friend and see if it works there, if not, card's dead.
