Hi, i own both a dell precision 490, and a 690, the 490 went a bit dodgey, but seemed to of fixed itself (the power supply broke, and i took it apart and reassembled it worked)

The probably i have is the 490 will go to boot up windows, and at the exact same point everytime, it will just automatically reset itselfs, no error message, nothing.

I've tried the powesupply from the 690, doesn't fix the problem, tried the graphics card, ram, even taken out the processors and applied a new set of thermal paste! (Tested with just one processor as well) & the hdd + sata leads!!

The hard drive works fine, i have been trying 3, all 3 work in the 690, but all have the same problem in the 490, so it can't be a software problem, its not the leads, and it cant be any hardware (i suspect it may be a motherboard fault, but only through rules of deduction!) i cannot try another processors as the screws for the heatsink in the 690 heads have came off.

So i have no idea what else to try, i do not wish to reformat the hard drive as i imagine this would be 99% pointless.

So all i can say for definite is
The power supply is fine
RAM is fine
Leads/connections are correct
Hard drives are fine
Graphics card is fine

Anyone had this problem / know a solution? I dont want to buy a new motherboard!:(

Thanks in advance for any answers!!
