I am trying to network my new tablets with my existing network, but am having difficulty. The tablets don't recognize the server pc. How would I get the tablets to join the network. (The server and 4 other pc's are wired, but there is wireless in my office)

- Is the wireless on the same network as the wired? Most company have restricted policy with wired/wireless network connectivity.
- Which operating system is your tablet running? if Android, there's a free app called "ES File Explorer", you can use this app to scan the server/pc and connect to it with your login credentials.

I believe so...is there a way I could check? The tablets have Windows 8 on them (Surface Pro).

When your Surface Pro connected to the Wifi, hold down the Windows key + R on your keyboard and type ncpa.cpl and Enter. Locate your Wireless network adapter and right-click Status, click Details. Check to see if your IPv4 addresses on both of the desktop/surface pro are in the same network. If they are, the first three octet should be the same (example 192.168.1.xxx)

It is my office, so I don't have an IT dept. Is this something I need to call someone about, or can I make the changes?

How is your network setup?
Is the 4 PC's connecting to the Server via router/switch? and where is the Netgear wireless router connecting from?

I don't know if Netgear WNDR3300 will let you change the network address. It seems that Netgear will go with the default 192.168.1.xxx, then you have to change the network address of the modem to the 192.168.1.xxx (currently its set to 10.1.10.xx). I would look at the modem brand/model and look for the user manual on changing the network address. Since you're setup with Server environment, I suggest you seek an IT consultant to do this as you don't want any downtime in your network.
Is your cable modem have wireless capability.
