here is the system
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/M3phmG
i built it 4 days ago

now only problem is
winrar takes a little to long 30 min or more for a 7 GB is that normal for this cpu?

now for gaming i cvan play 3 games on ultra and bf4 with browser open stable fps and only around 20% cpu usage total
each core about 30-40%
so that seems really good to me

have not tried video encoding yet will be later on when i get my hard drives ssd and blue ray drive

my temps
idle 28-30C
regular usage 30-37C
running 3 games ultra + bf4 and other programs
39-47C

when using prime for 10 min
never past 62 C

is that good?
i should state this is my first Intel build

oh and oon the games i have vsync on because im using a 60 hertz 40 inch tv
and will only ever get up to 60 fps quality

any thing i should get or need to get?
with this system

and if i got a 144 hertz monitor will i get better experience compared to a 40 inch tv?

thanks in advance (=

The Xeon gives you i7 performance at an i5 price, so if he's not overclocking anyway, the Xeon is a much better overall choice, even if it's only slightly (if at all) better for gaming.

As he stated in the OP, he will be doing video encoding, which is very CPU intensive. The Xeon will be much better than an i5 in this area, and is about...

The Xeon proccessor. Why the Xeon? You could have used an i5 or an i7 processor and the system still would have worked fine. 16 GB or RAM is unecessary. You only need 8. If you had gone for 8 you could have gotten a GTX 770 or possibly a 780. Unless you think you are going to upgrade in the future, a 750W PSU is completely unecessary. Oh, and where is your hard drive? Do you already have one?

Can't speak on the Winrar question, but everything else looks good.

A 144Hz monitor would be a little better, but you don't have a GPU powerful enough to take advantage of that refresh rate. If you're going to get a monitor, I would get a good IPS one for better picture quality.

thanks for the fast reply

and yes 16 GB would be unnecessary if i was only gaming but not with me using virtual machines for my media servers
as for the psu i chose it because i got it for free off my cousin and i tested it with my test bench and voltage taker device and it was surprisingly well
and the semi modular as well as 80+ bronze and hasewell ready were a really good plus

as for getting the 770 or 780
lolz
ram
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-memory-khx1600c9d3k48gx
which is 2 4gb stick @ 145 $
so 175 for 4 4gb sticks is not much of a price difference
and no i could not get a 770 or 780
and you have to include shipping
do some more research on that next time
would be good advice if i had enough money
tho then again withe the gtx 760 i can play my games at high to ultra with 60 fps only dips 1 fps in intense situations
and v sync is on and i have 3 other games running in the background
so i do not think i need a 770 or 780 anyway

and yes i have a ssd which is stated in pc parpicker
and the other hard drives are
1 western digital 1tb 7200 rpm 64 mb cache green
1-seagate baracuda 1tb 7200 rpm 64 mb cache
1- hgst 5400 rpm 32 mb cache 4 tb
2-80 gb velociraptor 10k rpm i forget the cache

and i just ordered

2 more of the ssd
which is the SAMSUNG 840 Pro
512 GB and another 128 gb
512 gb is for video editing and 1-3 games i play the most
and the 128 gb is for my confidential documents for my clients and my files i will be backing up
as well as some software

----EpicStarman----

yes you got what i did lol
and as for a monitor i looked up the price and i do not want to spend no 200-300$ on it lol
i will use my 32 inch tv in my closet for my desk
----BleedingEdgeTek--

i had the i5-4670k before but was not good enough for my video encoding
also i had to have it @ 4.3 GHZ
and got way to hot in my 80-100 F attic tho with ac its like 30-50 F

my idle temps were 50-60
prime overheat 79-83 never past 83 still tho this was with ac
with out it id would over heat
had to be oc that much because of the software i was using from my job
just not good for an attic
which was the main cause
in any case
i sold it with a 20$ loss and got the xeon

and the xeon @ stock is much better as in less heat less power draw and performs better in cpu intetsive tasks @ 3.3 ghz
and gaming is pretty much the same much better in bf4 tho but also again its @ stock no oc even tho i cannot so
you would have to oc the i5 1ghz more to get same performance
was just stating why i did what i did

as for the win rar thing ill just try some other programs see if there is a difference
if not then i guess i will deal with it since its not really that bad of an issue

welt thanks for the input
