i just bought a radeon 7790 gpu .my computer freezes during playing games like bf4,ac4 in higher settings.i have to pull off the plug to switch off the computer.but it is unable to boot for sometime..lower quality games like assassins creed brotherhood has no effect........my system specs.....i3-540 4gb ram radeon hd 7790 500watt psu.... .I have a HuntKey Green Power 500watt psu..

today i checked bios and it shows +12v=11.859v +5v=5.005v +3v=3.337v cpu temp=64.25C
after getting the freeze again i checked event viewer and found the following error messages logged during the freeze...

1.The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

2.The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort2.

3.The IO operation at logical block address e8 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\Ide\IdeDeviceP2T0L0-4) was retried.

i also found they are repeatedly present during the freezes...........

i also have an old cabinet and no active cooling system.............
my gpu idles at 40c and during playing demanding games it goes upto 70-72c...

What brand and model is the "500W" PSU?
Your symptoms are consistent with a cheap, overrated PSU overheating. IF that is the case, continuing to use it will most likely result in a glorious, sparkly death, whose majesty will be diminished by the near certainty that it took other parts with it into the fiery abyss.
