in our house, we have 2 laptops. one is running windows xp and the other windows7. they do not connect to the internet(which is wirless) but it does show up as an option to connect to. the mobile devices such as my phone can connect to the internet. we have tried resetting the modem and unplugging it, but the problem still occurs. any suggestions on how to fix this? please and thank you :)

The first thing is always to delete the connection on the computer and try to reestablish. If that does't work, turn off the encryption and try again.

Particularly for the XP laptop, it may not have a very "adaptable" wifi adapter. Go into your router settings and back them up. Then try this, if it is set to "N Only" or something like that, change it to B/G/N or whatever is closest in your equipment. If it already in B/G/N mode, change it to N only.

What ever steps you try, make sure you are right next to the router when trouble shooting.
