Hey guys. I posted a topic about my temps yesterday, but I need some advice.

I'm using the newer version of prime95 to stress test my cpu (large fft test), and it gives much higher temp readings than the older version which gives around 52-62C

These are my temperatures with the newer prime 95: http://imgur.com/1eXK9Fe
These are my temperaturs with the older prime 95: http://imgur.com/FT9CC1Y
both running large FFT test.

Using Intel extreme tuning utility's stress tester, the temps are around the same as old prime95: http://imgur.com/CcGUj26

Bear in mind, 4670k processor, dark rock pro 3 cooler, fractal design r4 case with 2 stock intakes, a bottom be quiet shadow wiings intake, and a rear be quiet shadow wings exhaust.

Are my temperatures concerning? Why does one version of prime95 give higher readings than the other. Also, if my temperatures are fine, what kind of overclock can I get?

If they're not fine, what should I do?

Thanks for any help.

They are a lot lower than I've seen elsewhere. I've seen 85C

That's a good cooler.

So you reckon I have nothing to worry about? It's my first build and I was nervous about applying the thermal paste and was not sure if I applied too much or too little. What kind of overclock could I get and still have safe temperatures?

Any opinions from others would also be great. Thanks

You're doing fine temp wise.

Google it!

I have been, and most of the searches lead me to debates between people about what the "ideal" temperature is, some saying 60 is too hot, others saying its fine. It's the new prime95 temps that concern me

With Prime, it doesn't matter much. You're testing to see if the cpu gets so hot (90C case temp) that it cuts out. It's a stress test. If your cpu survives, then it will survive any game you throw at it.

And I'm quite a fair bit away from 90 so it seems fine then. Thanks

No worries! Its better to worry about these things than to ignore them.
