This issue has been going on for a while now and I would prefer not to deal with it anymore. The issue is whenever I attempt to call someone on Skype, one of two things happens. One, I hear ringing and I am unable to do anything else as it is stuck like this. If I were to click on the "End call" button, the animation of me pressing it would go off but it would do nothing and I would have to use task manager to manually close Skype. Second, I hear a single ring after calling someone and then silence and am again unable to press "End call" and have to use task manager to force close Skype. To actually get into a call I have to close the program approximately 3-4 times until it finally works. Another issue is when I am receiving a call, I am unable to answer it and have to do the same thing over again and use task manager to force close the program until it works. This can be frustrating and I even tried reinstalling the problem, which has not worked yet.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it greatly. Many thanks.

Solution
Here are some more methods you can try. Do these in order and then try running skype after ea method.
1. Turn your router/modem off. Wait a few minutes. Turn it on again.
2. Turn your wifi on and off your computer (Not sure what laptop you have. Sometimes there is a w-ifi switch on some laptops. On others they have to press an f-key of some sort. )
3. Run the cmd as adminstrator. Type ipconfig /release. Wait a few minutes. Type ipconfig /renew. Wait a few minutes
4. Try installing skype portable @ http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/skype_portable

The ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew commands seem to have helped me out! Thanks a lot! And if this problem continues again, then I will try out Skype Portable. Thank you, I appreciate it.
