We can't use that link as it redirects to any other build that anyone has done, so put in the permalink instead

I don't know how to put in a permalink so I will just list off the specs.

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
corsair vengeance 8gb ddr3-1866
seagate 1tb 7200 RPM SSHD

Corsair 750D ATX full tower

I definitely would not go with that CPU as it is now two generations old.
Here is what I would go with

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor ($144.97 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($87.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($68.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($55.98 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card ($295.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case ($129.99 @ Micro Center)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($88.28 @ B&H)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $962.17
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
