Windows XP for basic browsing

hello,

so my dad has an old toshiba with windows xp. he just uses it for facebook, youtube and basic browsing. i offered to reformat it for him (maybe to Linux or Windows 7)because windows xp has ended support. however he's reluctant. so i just installed an antivirus, and a decent firewall. im not sure whether he is safe. any ideas?

For the most part, he's going to be fine using Windows XP. I would say that his major concern isn't Facebook, but the links from Facebook. General browsing and YouTube shouldn't pose any issues. Of course, while I understand his reluctance, I would still recommend an update to Windows 7 or 8/8.1.

exactly what i was planning to install on his PC! i use it on all my computers! their new 360 Total Security is the best :)
