i am in need of a motherboard replacement but since im on dissability, im on limited funds. so i need a board that will support my am2+ phenom 2 quad core cpu plus my dd22 ram. as i cant afford a new cpu or new ram, just a new replacement board as the other compnents are still good. please visit these links and tell me what you think and also which you think is best. i can always upgrade to a newer AM3 cpu when i get more money heres the links for the newegg mobos

lastly if you can find a better board with in my 70 dollar including shipping budget that still supports phenom 2 920 cpu's as well as ddr2 memory post me a link thanks but this is the best i can afford wityh my current hardware

keep in mind if you find me a new board it has to support the AM2+ phenom 920 ddr2 quaqd core cpu thanks

They are both good motherboards and they have support for your CPU and RAM... the ASRock A785GM-LE has support up to AM3 CPUs and DDR2 RAM only, but the ASRock 960GC-GS FX has support up to FX AM3+ CPUs and both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM, so this one can run with CPUs and RAM made from 2006 up to this year... and I don't think any similar motherboards are made by other manufacurers.. I have specifically searched for them and did not find any. You could buy a Socket AM2+ motherboard to replace you's but it will not be as upgradeable, so this would be a perfect replacement which you can upgrade some day with DDR3 RAM and a FX CPU.

BTW.. you already have a AM3 Phenom... Your "phenom 2 920" is the AMD Phenom II X4 920 2.8 GHz Quad-Core.. so the ASRock 960GC-GS FX AM3+/AM3/AM2+ Motherboard is the perfect replacement.

.... Socket AM3+ is old technology?... It's what sells today!!.. I agree FM2 is newer but doesn't compete against AM3+ and that motherboard you suggest would need a FM2 CPU and DDR3 RAM which according to OP are not in her budget.

Correction: [strike]The top comparable Kaveri APU alone would still be priced higher than the ASRock 960GC-GS motherboard. Add a $45.00 mobo, some $70.00 worth of DDR3 RAM... for a $170 - $180 total and $100 - $110 overbudget. And wind up with a 25% slower CPU than the Phenom II X4 920 2.8 GHz Quad-Core... and a slower system.
I wouldn't call that an improvement.[/strike]
I mistook Kaveri for Kavini APU... But a Kaveri system would run much higher than I estimated before... and would probably not make any improvements in performance... maybe it would in video, but OP hasn't mentioned a GPU, so who knows if a Kaveri video would be an improvement over a simple mobo replacement.

You're right 125W CPUs are not supported by the ASRock 960GC-GS FX... but the other one ASRock A785GM-LE does support 125W AM2+/AM3 CPUs. It even has a better video chip and DVI Video.
