Nice rhyme but exactly how bad is the Xtremegear psu compared to the corsair one above? Does the xtremegear one even run at its claimed "800 watts"?

None, go with Seasonic, Antec, XFX or Corsair AX.

What's your build? I can recommend you a quality supply that will run your system with/without overclocks.

that is a fine PSU, but whether or not it is right for your system requires more information.

there's an enermax Revolution, XFX Pro Series & a Corsair XH that costs around $10 less than that Rosewill. if you much prefer to save up on the short term over the long term via saved electricity bills, there's an 80+ Bronze Antec HCG-850M for $70.

but depending on the rest of your PC, you may not even need 750W. we'd be able to help you further if you disclose the rest of your specs.

So do you think I could cut it with like a 600 or 500 Watt?

again, to repeat myself and the others; it depends on the rest of your specs. two 770s or 280X's in SLI/CF or a single 780ti may need 750W (though arguably a quality 600-650W with enough power through the 12V rails can do a similar job, it's better to have some headroom).

A single 770 will only need a 550-650W PSU at most . but that's assuming you're not adding tons of HDDs, custom water cooling, TEC coolers, enough LEDs on your PC to qualify you for the neighborhood's home Christmas lights competition, etc..
