Hey guys,

I need to replace my Graphic card, currently I'm using GTX 580.
I have in mind of getting GTX 770 4gb, my set up is dual monitor.
Im not sure whether its a wise upgrade or not.
Friend told me to go for 780 but that is out of my budget :(
is it future proof? I want to be able to play Battlefield 4 smoothly, and any other new coming games, like Tom Clancy's The Division

Thanks guys for the input in advance.

Solution
For 3D software and other adobe software amd card should work fine but Nvidia card seem to work better.
It mostly depend Photoshop should work fine on both but some program like Premier Pro should work better Nvidia card.

mmmm i will search more about AMD card then, I have quite a bad experience with AMD card few years back before change to Nvidia.
What is the difference between R9 290 and R9 290x?

The 290x is about 8% faster.
I would just buy a 290 and overclock it to the 290x level.

I haven't ever had an issue with them. I've heard a lot of people say stuff, but it seems like its all from years gone by. They don't seem to have any issues now.

The 290x and 290 are similar, I'm trying to remember. I think the 290 is a cut down 290x with fewer cores, or else its just a drop in Mhz. Otherwise its the same card.

It lower core and less Texture Units but the different in performance is about 8%

Okay I will reconsider about this. I read somewhere in the forum saying that R90 fan is quite noisy, and some people would rather watercool it, and there are heat issue as well? (im not too sure about this)
and here they are selling 4GBOC version for $539.00 and the normal one for $514.00

That is mosty with the stock fan.
Asus and XFX make great cooler for the 290

Ahh i see, so you would rather recommend to get other than the stock one ya?
And btw im design student as well, so i will be using 3D software and other adobe software, will AMD perform as good as Nvidia?
I really want to get my bucks for performance

I would just go for the 290 card. Again nvidia card do run better in 3D software and adobe software but the 290 should still run those program just fine.
