Graphics card dead?

Hello Everyone,

I am fairly sure that my graphics card is dead, but I have never seen one die or go out like this so I am really not sure.

My system is:
Intel i7-3770k
AMD Radeon HD 7850
Asus P8Z77-V Pro
Avexir 4x4GB RAM
Radimax 635w PSU

I have a TV and a monitor in use. The TV, cause its bigger, runs off the AMD card while the monitor runs off the integrated graphics in the CPU.

Problem:
I am just sitting, watching a video on my computer with VLC Player which does some GPU acceleration. This was running through my TV and the AMD card. All of a sudden, the computer sort of, rapidly shuts down. It didn't just turn off, and it didn't go through shut down procedure, it went from playing, to just the lights in my case and the fans running, to full shut down in a matter of seconds.
When I turned the computer back on, I was watching for the splash screen which never came on either display. Then Windows loaded and it was only on my monitor and the integrated graphics. Device Manager doesn't detect the AMD card anymore, and there is no option to switch between monitors.

Normally I would think it is just dead, but there wasn't any artifacts on screen or signs of failure before it just quit. Its strange. Any ideas?

The issue happened about 10 minutes ago. Then I posted this thread, and minutes after doing so the GPU fans kicked up really high and really fast. Louder than I have ever heard them before. I shut down, and turned it back on, and now the TV and graphics card are up and running again. However I still have concerns that it is dying.
