Ok so ever since i rolled back windows to a previous version, i have been unable to get the Afterburner OSD to display in any of my games unless a flickering graphical bug occurs. Under OSD in the information page, it reports that it cannot find a running 3d application even though there is clearly game running in the background.

So far, i've only been replicate the flickering bug once in XBMC and in MSI Kombustor.
Is there any reason for this behaviour?

Well that is weird. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program? Also updating to the newest version? They have had a lot of beta's over the last yea and something, but I think like 2 weeks ago they finally launched the 3.0 version.

Yup i've tried reinstalling the program a few times and updating the graphics driver. I just tested it on fraps and it seems like it too can't latch onto the game. Will reinstalling directx help it?

That is so strange. You did uninstall the graphics driver before installing the new one right?

This already doesn't make sense, so you might as well try directX. Maybe try uinstalling and reinstalling the game too. If that doesn't do it I would be looking at either going without a monitor or reinstalling Windows.

Yup i just ran the DirectX error checking tool and it passed with shining Colors. And uninstalling the Nvidia drivers didn't seem to help. Uninstalling the game won't help because this is across everything. Looks i might have to reinstall windows :(

Thanks for you help Inuyasha!

No problem, hopefully you can get it sorted out. If reinstalling Windows doesn't do it, I would then have to think your graphics card is going bad.
