Is overclocking an FX-8350 worth it (specifically for gaming)?

See, I wanted to have an ultimate liquid cooling quiet set up with an overclocked FX-8350 to the highest clock speed that I could get it to (probably 4.8). My issue, is that I need a new motherboard, since I really dislike mine for overclocking, and I need to spend at least $140-160 to get a board for my needs. My question is, should I even bother spending the money? Or, should I spend it on the liquid cooling (since I don't have enough for both). My current cooler can keep the temperatures down enough. But I really want to liquid cool as a summer project and I think it looks amazing.

So should I keep my board, in which I do not overclock on (and don't want to with my UEFI).

Or, should I purchase a liquid cooling system with a triple 120 and a single 120mm rad and run at stock speeds.

Note that I am interested in purchasing intel broadwell. AMD seems a bit out of date and broadwell seems refreshing. But I can't say if I would get it or stick with my 8350.

I want to do both as a kind of project/ thing to do. But my room also gets very hot, and I am afraid that overclocking will make it even hotter. I am just wandering, if the performance increase is anything great. I play with a 770 at 1080p (potentially 1440p later this year).

Unless you have the extra money I'd prob say stick with what you have, if the stock 8350 comes at 4ghz then an extra 800mhz isn't really going be THAT noticeable, I'd OC it as much as you can on the current board and leave it at that while finishing off your liquid cool setup.

Well, the thing is, is that I have a ud3, but an older version (3.0). The UEFI is confusing as heck and I don't like it (I have attempted overclocking on it, but most guides loose me, since mine is soo different than everyboyd else's).

See I bought an Asrock Fatality 990FX Killer motherboard on sale at Microcenter, for overclocking. I just can't figure if it is worth it. I really want to liquid cool, but I feel like it is a big waste of money for stock speeds. I just can't decide if I want to keep it, and wait to liquid cool until I get the money which would be a while, or return it and go straight into the liquid cooling.

I was considering that, but, I don't know where to sell it. I looked at Ebay, but they don't sell to well and there are a lot of them. They only sell well with a CPU. I was thinking of just throwing in a 64GB SSD in for free that I only use for a single game because I got a larger one to replace it. do you have any idea of where to sell it.

Not a bad idea.

As long as you have a form of an aftermarket cooler that can support the heat, it should be fine for cooling right now.

Liquid cooling on stock speeds isn't really needed. It'd just be for looks and what not. If your not using a decent aftermarket cooler, you should probably just go with overclocking. Getting to 4.8 might be a bit difficult if you have a lower end cooler though.

My cooler is great (240mm all in one). I just don't know if the performance increase is worth it. I really want to liquid cool, but I am not sure if I should have overclocking capabilities (a board that I like for overclocking) before I even get all of that set up.

Is there anything else that you think would be better to do if I wanted to sell my motherboard?

Yeah post it on overclock.net or techpowerup. You will need a certain amount of reputation to post in the overclock.net marketplace.
