Fans And Static Pressure?

I'm looking to replace some H100i fans (the stock ones), but people are recommending me with some great options, like the Noctuas, but the thing is, the stock fans have higher static pressure? How does this formula even work?

Even the Gentle Typhoons which people praise, have like a 2.9 h20 static pressure rating, so does that mean a fan with 4.0 h20 rating, will cool better than something with a 2.9 rating? I want some quiet fans WITHOUT hindering performance, and right now I don't see any fans with a 4.0 rating, and is quieter than 37 dBA (except for the H100i stock which are around 35 dBA)

Am I doing the calculations wrong? If I buy Noctuas with a 2.9 h20 rating, will they out perform the H100i Stock fans with a 4.0 or no?

  1. Noctua NF-F12's will beat any fan you throw at it. Especially the industrial versions. Noctua's engineering is amazing,

Still doesn't answer my question regarding the static pressure though. They are great, yes, but with 2.9-3.0 h20 rating, aren't the stock H100i fans...better?

They have a 3.1 h20 rating... Stock h100i fans still better.

you cant have two things at one. higher rpm but quiet. only nf-12 if you have budget or sp120 pwm performance edition for cheaper price
  5. You are not going to find a high static pressure fan that is quiet. It is a best compromise of those two vectors. You could mount a pair of Delta fans and have great cooling, but I doubt you will like the noise.

But what I am saying is that the way the NF-12's are engineered, will they outperform the h100i stock?
  7. theoretically, nf12 will outperform h100i stock fan easily

    How?
  9. as nf12 uses heptaperf blade and focusedflow frame which push out even more hot air
    according to their website,
    Acoustical Noise :29,7 dB(A)
    Static Pressure : 3,94 mm H2O
  10. By the way, the Noctua fans are excellent. The Noctua NF-F12 PWM 120mm Case Fan would be a great choice.

I'm looking into gtting the industrial version as they have a higher rpm and h20 rating for static pressure, but damn are they expensive

Yes. don't always pay attention to the specs, you have to check RELIABLE graphs and test that compare them. Any reliable graph shows the Noctua's winning by several degrees.
