Skyrim PC build

Solution

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TVdFK8 I'd go with this, I changed out the cpu for a faster one for $6 more. Also I don't think you need a 280X, a 270X is $100 cheaper and for skyrim even with many mods it should be plenty. http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Version-PCI-Express-Graphics-11217-01-20G/dp/B00B3WTWXU?SubscriptionId=AKIAIEF7KZG4SSIJ7QQA&tag=toms_shopping_gpu-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B00B3WTWXU

It depends on the mods you plan to use. With many ENB mods they say to expect your FPS to basically be cut in half, I'd advise spending ~$20 more to get a 280X thats about 12% faster. Also that CPU has just been refreshed to the i5 4690K which is $9 more expensive but faster and with more overclocking headroom.

If he runs heavy texture mods, the 3GB can help. Skyrim texture mods eat VRAM for breakfast.

Depends though, on a single 1080p monitor I don't think the difference when going beyond a good 2K texture pack like THIS This one actually runs fine for me with only 1GB of ram and with a sharpshooters ENB. Up to the OP but I would save money and stick with the 270X as the 280 is $100 more expensive and not necessarily needed. For this mod the creator recommends 1.25GB of VRAM
