Like the million other threads out there about what site/company is best to build a custom laptop im wondering if anyone has delt with m-tech? They seem to talk the talk on their website but the spelling and grammatical leave me a little worried as to their competence, if they cant spell words can they build computers? Hhmm

Cyberpower seem a bit hit and miss and pcspecialists though well priced seem cheap looking.

I would consider building myself but i have no idea where to even start with that and the wife wouldnt be to impressed if i messed it up.

desktops - absolutely build your own. Laptops it's not so easy and you cannot get the custom motherboards, high-quality screens etc. that large companies can get.

Boutique builders (and I may have forgotten a few):

Here is my list: (not even in alphabetical format)

Maingear: http://www.maingear.com/

Digital Storm: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/

Origin PC: http://www.originpc.com/

Falcon Northwest: http://www.falcon-nw.com/

Puget Systems: http://www.pugetsystems.com/

CyberPowerPC: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/

Velocity Micro: http://www.velocitymicro.com/
If you want a custom laptop, I'd advise against building it yourself. The range of components are quite limited.

Depending on what you want, I'd stick with a large, recognized brand. Lenovo, Asus.... maybe one of a few boutique builders, but probably not even them.

The thing is these larger companies are very expensive when compared to the custom build website but on the other hand i do trust them more. Funny you should aay not to build my own, you must be the first person i have seen to have said that. Everyone else seems to say its relitevly easy and surely component parts are easy to get ahold of.

Out of interest what boutique site do you refer to?
