Well im going to be honest iv been trying to figure this out for a couple of weeks. I even bought a new psu and everything

Specs:

Windows 7 64bit
Nvidia GTX 770
8GB Corsair vengeance 1600
Amd fx 6300
Asus m5a97 R 2.0 mobo
evga 600b 600w 80 plus bronze psu

So im really to my breaking point. I just bought this 770 to replace my xfx 260x and the fps blows compared to the 260x. I was getting constant 60+fps on skyrim with the 260x and my fps drops to 40 with the 770. And even dragon age 2 on the 770 drops to 40 fps. And my gpu idle temp is 35c and cpu is 30c idle max 50c in prime 95. My damn 6300 throttles for some damn unknown reason. goes from 3500 ish mhz to 3000ish MHz and back and forth. iv tried everything and I just don't know what to do. please someone walk me through something. anything....im really desperate..thank you.

yeah and im not even playing 1080 res. im playing on 1280x1024 resolution and this gpu should be overkill......im sorry im just really frustrated at this point

I have the same mobo and gpu. I would try going into the bios and changing some settings. I know there are three overall computer modes in the bios. There is a power saver mode, normal mode, and a performance/extreme mode. You could try to switch it to the extreme mode (which is what I have it set at) and see if that works. My gtx 770 can run games at 1080p maxed out at around 60fps, there may be something wrong with the card itself. If it is still under warranty, you may be able to get a new one. Before you do any of that I would make sure you are all updated on your drivers and make sure your computer can actually detect the gpu.

Ok so im back and iv been running some test and I think it was my cpu. I tweaked my settings and all and I ran some benchmark test and see what yall think:

~Unigine Valley Benchmark:~
DX11
1360x768 Resolution
8xAA
ULTRA settings

FPS:66.5
Score:2781
------------------------------------------------
~Unigine Heaven Benchmark:~
Directx11
Quality : ULTRA
Tessellation: EXTREME
8xAA
1360x768 Resolution

Average FPS : 59.6
Score : 1500
Min FPS : 19.8
Max FPS: 146.5

Dunno what the difference fps between 1360x768 res and 1080p is. I could try 1280x1024 res on my other monitor. Dunno what difference that would make. And the gpu maxed at 80c im guessing cuz of gpu boot 2.0 or something?

But does it sound correct for a 770
