Samsung laptop won't boot - get disk read error

So yesterday I tried to fix my Samsung laptop. SATA Ports 1 and 2 are Samsung HM641JI and TSSTcorpCDDVDW TS-U633F respectively, CPU is an Intel Core i5 M460. It started with a "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media into selected media device" error message.

I restarted the computer, attempted to run system repair. That didn't work. Attempted to run chkdsk /r twice. First time the computer shut down on itself, second time the computer aborted the chkdsk itself. Hadn't turned the computer off and tried to start chkdsk a third time when I got an "I/O" error message when trying to access the HDD.

Restarted the computer and got the Samsung screen immediately followed by "disk read error, press ctrl+alt+del to restart". Repeated the message multiple times upon restarts.

Before chkdsk was run I tried booting to safe mode. Windows got stuck when loading files. When I tried to start normally it got hung up on the windows loading screen (the floating lights turning into the flag) and didn't progress further.

Whenever I start the computer, if I start pressing f2 immediately I can get to the setup menu, but if I try to do a boot override from either one of the SATA ports it takes me to the disk error screen. I can't get to the repair screen anymore.

Cracked open the back to attempt to switch ports on the motherboard, but the SATA cord wasn't long enough. I was able to blow on the cord and the port, and that got me the Samsung screen (followed immediately by the disk error screen). I'm worried that trying to repair the HD has fried it, because I can't get anything to work now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your HDD is not working anymore, or functioning incorrectly. You will need a new HDD to fix this, as this issue has happened before and it has been due to the HDD.

I would try installing windows on a USB flash driver then trying to boot on your laptop, this may confirm if it is the HDD or not. To do this, it needs to be done on another PC.
