are these benchmarks ok for SSD ?

Solution

The Magician results look pretty bad. AS SSD looks much better.

Have you "Optimized" your SSD yet?

OOps! No, must have overlooked it. Your AS SSD results are way better than mine:

Were the "Optimized Settings" enabled when you ran the Magician performance test? Because there appears to be a wide discrepancy between your Magician and AS SSD results.

Your Random Read/Write results look pretty bad.

I f you have done all of the Optimizations in the above recommended article at SSD Review, then I am at a loss to explain such poor results.

Are you positive that Write Caching is enabled in Windows?

If you're in the USA, you may want to call 1-800-SAMSUNG and see if they can recommend any helpful tips.

Sorry that I can't be more help. Maybe someone else will chime in here.

Because SDDs store data differently than HDDs do. Tracks, sectors, blocks are all irrelevant to a drive that doesn't have spinning round platters. But the interface protocol had to be carried over to keep things copacetic. As long as your partition starting offset is 4096 (or divisible by that) you are good.

Your scores look great to me. Wish mine were that good :D

Your Crystal Disk Results look fine. It is the Samsung benchmark's random IOPs that I have a problem with. I don't understand the discrepancy.

Be sure that your NOT plugged into one of the Marvell SATA ports.

BTW, what Mobo do you have, or is it a pre-built system?

For your comparison, here are the results from my 128 GB 840 Pro. Since it is a "Pro" it should be faster but not THIS much faster!

z77xud3h rev 1
16gb corasir ram, currently 4 (testing for erros cause i have issues)
caviar black 1tb
840evo 120gb
800w corsair psu
R9 280X DCUII TOP
i7 2600 at 3.6 GHz

and how do i know what ports are marvel ? i have 2 white(6gbps) and 4 black, ssd is pluged in white port

According to THIS the Marvell controller is only for the eSATA ports on the back.

They show 2 SATA 3 ports and 4 SATA 2 ports, so it looks like you're on the right port.

If you're not using the Marvell eSATA, you might go into the BIOS and disable it to see if that will help any.

i disabled marvel eSATA. but i cant run 3 different benchmarks each time i make a change, its bad for the ssd , even the apps give a warning about it , so ill just stop.and i disabled marvel e sata, since i ma never going to use it . ssds suck, even if i have ssd and a game installed on it, then the save files are stored on the hard driver, the game will read and write on the hdd, so that makes ssd useless, right ?

With 120 GB SSD you should have room for your OS, web browser, your most used apps. and a few of your favorite games. You can swap games on/off the SSD as you become bored with one and want to use another.

For a game installed on the SSD, the game will load faster and levels will also load very fast. You can get into the game while others are still loading the scene. If you run a game from the HDD, then you lose the speed advantage of the SSD.

with 120 gb of ssd is a waste of money, and not enough space for games, modern games eat up to 30GB of space, 3 games installed, ssd gone!!
and i dont see any difference on my game...
