Hey guys again to this awesome forum with another question.

So I'm planning to get a external sound card for my sennheiser 363d and was thinking about the Asus Essence I (since I'm also an audiophile hehe). But I'm not sure if its support Dolby 7.1 surround sound. Any other recommendations? Also do you need a Pcie sound card for an external sound to work? And lastly, when will the essence 3 release because I might get that.

Additional Details:
1. Would be nice if it was audiophile level quality
2. Need Dolby 7.1 surround sound and would be nice if that could be turned off ( the surround sound I mean) when I'm listening to music.

hi guys,

im on the same situation, looking for a sound card to hook up with my AV receiver.

I looked at creative external products, since i was very much happy in the past with a audigy 2 zs on my desktop.
Now my laptop does not have a pcmcia slot, thus cant use the audigy 2 zs notebook products.
I tried to compare the Sound Blaster X-Fi HD and the Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro, and the ASUS - Echelon Xonar U7 Edition.

I wish to have it conected to my AV receiver, specially for the purpose to play music from spotify , offline and in AC3 or m4a format. Wich system is able to provide the most clear output for each channels to the AV receiver ?
What do you think ?

thanks guys
