In my home I have a wired/wireless router. My current DSL service is terrible and am considering a Sprint hot spot but don't want to give up the security protection of the router. My router is presently connected to my Dell desktop which is 7 years old and doesn't have a wifi adapter. We use the router wirelessly for laptop and tablet and it is also wired to 2 other computers on other floors of our house. How to set up a hot spot using the wireless router? Is there a hot spot device that also includes a router?

Solution
Your hotspot is a router that only runs on wireless. What you will need is another device that connects to the hotspot and provides ethernet ports. This is normally called a client-bridge. There are a number of "repeaters" that can also do this but you want to make sure you buy one you can disable the repeating wireless function. It greatly degrade the wireless to actually run it as a repeater. The do sell device that only do the client-bridge function they just are not as popular so they are harder to find.

Be very careful even though your dsl is terrible the sprint plan likely charges per gig of bandwidth and it can get expensive
