If you are in the same room as the router then you are much much better off to just use wired internet over wireless.

If you are gaming or doing anything that requires immeidate feedback you will be better off with a powerline adapter over wifi. A powerline adapter kit comes with two adapters; at your router you plug an ethernet cable from the router to the adapter and plug it into the wall, and then in the room with your pc you plug the other adapter into the wall and then an ethernet cable from the adapter to the pc.

If you have to have to use wireless over the first two methods then you want to get a pci-e wifi adapter and not a usb one. The usb ones dont have as good of antennas and the 5v output of the usb port limits how...
